The hosts of the event are the Alan Weekes Quintet. Alan Weekes on guitar,Bryan Edwards on tenor sax, Shaney Forbes on drums, Ben Hazelton on double bass featuring the vocal skills of George Kelly.
Collectively the guys have worked with some of the giants of the Jazz world from Courtney Pine to the platinum selling Joss Stone.
The evening will echo the Jazz styles of post war to present day London and pay homage the influx of both America and Afro Carribean cultures and reflect on the impact it has had upon the music of London. The band will be playing in the styles of Hard Bop, Blues, Jazz Standards, Reggae and Ska.
George Kelly (vocalist) will be leading both the vocal and musical workshops, in which participants will be given the chance to explore and understand the mechanics of modern Jazz music. They will learn to play chords, melodies and expressions - and of course will be invited to join in a jazz jam for the finale - a good old fashioned knees-up to a medley of well known jazz classics.
Who - All are invited - musicians both novices and keen amateurs, singers,jazz boffins to lovers of live music.
